About the event

Recovery Connections is hosting four sessions for people aged over 50 to share their memories of Middlesbrough and of the toy shop, Romer Parrish. Our café, Fork in the Road, is on the site of the old children’s toy shop, Romer Parrish.

If you are interested in bringing along some photographs to share memories of your life and of Middlesbrough then you can discuss these with other people, who will bring memories of their own. Writer Helen Aitchison will host the discussions.

Before each session, we will make some free food from Fork in the Road for you to enjoy during the day. There are four sessions in total, three at Fork in the Road, before we have a final trip to Beamish Museum. Hopefully, the old Romer Parrish shop will be rebuilt and open, on-site, by the summer.

Session One: Work and Home Life (March)

Session Two: Friends, Community, Neighbours and Social Life (April)

Session Three: Childhood and Romer Parish (May)

Session Four: Visit to Beamish Museum and Romer Parrish (June or July)

We all have a story; we want to help people tell theirs’: It is our hope that the sessions will bring people together in a warm and friendly environment and one that encourages people to share their stories with others. We want their voices to be heard.

Places are limited – so if you are interested, please register here and we will be in touch with more information.
